Chicago’s Beer Scene

Nick and I just returned from 48 hours in Chicago and man did we have a great time! We started out on Monday night with the Publican (amazing food, very fun beer list) and we drank: Cain and Ebel from Two Brothers (Amazing Red, kind of like Founder’s Red Rye) Dreadnaught IPA from 3 Floyds, then I had Christoffel Nobel, then Aecht Schlenkerla Krausen, Old #38 Stout from North Coast, and Hard Apple Cider from Vander Mill Cider Mill and Brewery.

We ate: Charcuterie Plate that included head cheese, raspberry mostarda and other tasty meat things, Boudin Blanc, Clams,  Sardines, Grilled Octopus and Apple Waffle for dessert!

Then onto the Map Room where Nick drank the 3 Floyds Alpha King, Boulevard Double Wide Pale Ale, Five Rabbit Five Vulture (a spiced brown ale made with chilies) Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA, Struise St. Amatus (quadruple) and then a 1/2 acre, Short’s collaboration which was an amazing saison!

Tuesday during the day we went to one of the Goose Island Brew Pubs and drank their IPA and Abbey Amber (Pere Jaques), along with their Green Line Pale Ale (inside Chicago only)

Tuesday Night we ate at Graham Elliot, which was a lot of fun, and they had a few good beers, but I don’t remember any of them….. as a result the bourbon we ended up drinking

Wednesday we finished off our trip to Hop Leaf and drank Two Brother’s Heavy Handed IPA, Revolution Coup D’Etat (a local saison) and then Green Flash Hop Rod Red (a personal favorite of both of ours)

And then we had to dash off to make our plane!

We definitely missed some spots, but that’s what next time is for!
