Where the Wild Beers Are

At The Porter Beer Bar, every Friday in January we do a different themed tap takeover and we have just announced the themes for 2011!

The first tap takeover will be on January 7th and will be beer from Michigan! (Founders, Bell’s and many more…)

The second tap takeover will be on January 14th and will be Brewdog and Mikkeller!

The third tap takeover will be on January 21st and will be SOUR beers!

The fourth tap takeover will be on January and we will be blowing out the beer cellar! All the cool stuff we saved all year we will be taking out of the cellar and putting on draft!

As we get closer we will announce the specific beers that will go on each Friday!

Our Commitment to Mikkeller

Dear Beloved Beer Drinker,

You have noticed that at The Porter we strive to carry every Mikkeller beer ever made. Why is this you might ask? Surely not every beer of his is perfect? Of course not, some are better than others, but we are committed to Mikkeller beause of his innovation and refusal to think inside the box.

The single hop series alone is reason enough to recognized Mikkeller ar one of the great brewers of our time. Now that the yeast series has started to be released, we are only further validated that this man makes not only beer to drink, but beer to make you think.

I encourage you to crack open a bottle of Brettanomyces and savor the complexity and wonder “why didn’t anyone else think of this?”
